Congress demands probe against BCCI Secretary Anurag Thakur

Congress on Monday latched on to a report of BJP MP Anurag Thakur socialising with a suspected bookie to demand probe by an independent agency into the link between him, BCCI and the bookies.

Party spokesperson Sushmita Dev told reporters that the International Cricket Council (ICC) writing a letter to the Indian Cricket Board was a serious matter as Thakur is the BCCI Secretary. Noting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi often said that neither he will resort to corruption, nor allow others to do so, she said, therefore, it was imperative that he ordered an inquiry into the issue.
he also claimed that India's biggest betting-cum-hawala racket running into over Rs 4,000 crore has been unearthed last month in Gujarat. He alleged clear linkages to BJP leaders and police machinery in the state. Another party spokesperson Tom Vadakkan, however, steered clear of questions over the Special Investigation Team (SIT) monitoring the probe into Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board or Vyapam scam telling the high court that the documents used by AICC general secretary Digvijaya Singh to target Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan are forged.

Vadakkan said that the whole issue is a matter of probe and the party would not comment till a report comes.
